Advocacy & Awareness
At the heart of Young Carers SA lies a commitment to advocacy and awareness. We strive to shed light on the often-overlooked challenges faced by young caregivers, advocating for policies and programs that recognise and support their contributions.
Many young carers highlight that their caregiving experiences are positive. However, research shows that without adequate support, their health, mental health, and overall wellbeing can be significantly impacted.
Through partnerships and outreach, we aim to build a network of compassion and solidarity, where every child and young person in a caregiving role knows they are valued and appreciated.
We also have a series of new programs being introduced in the 2024-25 including:
- Harmony Care: Leveraging music as a tool for healing and support in a caring space.
- BE ME – Mentoring program for Young Carers: Enhancing wellbeing and confidence and creating and supporting aspirations.
- Mindful moments: Providing clarity and focus through the practice of being present in a supportive environment.
We aim to rewrite the narrative for these remarkable young individuals—transforming "unseen, unheard, unsupported" into "seen, heard, supported".
Our vision is a world where young caregivers are celebrated for their courage, where their dreams are nurtured alongside their responsibilities, and where no child or young person walks alone on their caregiving journey.
Together we care
Join us in illuminating the lives of young caregivers — because every young person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.
